A Little "Bite" About Us....
Since 1947, Wetherbee's has been operating out of Essex Junction, Vermont. In the early years, cooking mostly BBQ Chicken buffets, they moved from Main Street to South Street where a pavilion was constructed to cater weddings and other functions. While part of the Administration team at Champlain College, Bill Wetherbee purchased the business from his uncle in 1976. Prior to operating Wetherbee's, Bill taught high school and college, and earned his Masters Degree from the University of Vermont.
In 1977, the three banquet room facility was enhanced with the addition of a small restaurant and bar called The Sawmill Pub. Misfortune struck when the building was completely destroyed by fire in 1988. Since that time, with the help of many friends and restaurateurs, Wetherbee's is still catering.
Famous for their barbequed chicken, homemade baked beans and carrot cake, Wetherbee's takes great pride in being able to provide an abundance of delicious food and the professional experience necessary to create the perfect event.
Bill is a charter member of the Essex Business and Professional Association, a member of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is involved with many other organizations.
Wetherbee's does a variety of catering, from barbeques to buffets. Clients range from the new bride and groom to large companies and include all of the stars that come to perform during the Champlain Valley Exposition at the Fairgrounds.
